Introducing the UW Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2026

University of Wisconsin Interim Director of Athletics Marcus Sedberry announced today that 12 outstanding athletes and staff will be inducted into the UW Athletic Hall of Fame.

Happy Birthday, Wisconsin! The Badger State became official on May 29, 1848. UW–Madison's first classes would begin on February 5, 1849, when the State of Wisconsin was still in diapers. 🍼

Before Dracula, paper clips, or basketball ever existed, Science Hall was standing. The 139-year-old state landmark is a product of its time, but a $85.2 million gift from John and Tashia Morgridge will renovate and modernize the building for generations to come.

The historic building will undergo renovation starting in 2027 to restore its iconic exterior, create new gathering space and modernize its interior to support learning and research.

When students arrive this fall, Interim Chancellor Eric Wilcots will welcome them. ⁠It's just the latest role for Wilcots in an accomplished career at UW–Madison spanning over 30 years, from his astrophysics research with the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT)🔭 project to his Universe in the Park program, and his most recent role as Dean of UW-Madison College of Letters & Science.
