Excitement was in the air at the State Capitol in Little Rock on May 8, 2026, at the Signing Day Celebration in the annual recognition of registered apprenticeship graduates and future teacher candidates who have committed to the noble profession of education!

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Secretary of Education Dr. Jacob Oliva, and Assistant Commissioner Brandie Benton provided special remarks to commemorate the festive event. In addition, Jeanie Wilcoxon, the 2025 Arkansas Teacher of the Year and 2026 Lifetime Educator Award winner, Ouida Newton, also delivered inspirational messages to the large crowd.

SAU was well-represented at the grand celebration! Here is the information on the individuals in the pictures:

While Connie credits her growth as an educator to the apprenticeship program, she attributes her passion for teaching to her grandmother.
