SAU Social Work faculty attended the Arkansas National Association of Social Workers Conference March 12-14 in Little Rock, AR. Five Social Work students presented independent research from their Research Methods course. Posters presented were as follows: Dating Violence Among College Students by Tylaa Berry and Sah'Myah Holloway, Inclusion Does Not Have To Mean Division by Noah Walker, Social Media Use Among College Students by Samuel Jonah Walker, and Social Media and the Risk of Depression Among College Students by Cassidy Jones. Cassidy Jones won two awards for her presentation - the BSW Public Policy Presentation Award and the BSW Best Overall Poster Presentation Award.

Spring Semester 2024 has been a busy time for our Behavioral & Science Department. As we prepare to wrap up the semester, the department wanted to give reconignition to some of our students for their hard work.

In March, Social Work students Lakiya Jackson, Diamond Muldrow and Alexis Hayes attended the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-AR) Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas. Lakiyah Jackson won the BSW Social Work Student Award for Program or Intervention Poster Presentation, and Diamond Muldrow won the BSW Social Work Student Award for Public Policy Poster Presentation. Also, Sydney Phillips, Briona Nikole Britton-Terry, and Inna Serpukhova presented their research with faculty members at the Southwestern Psychological Association (SWPA) annual meeting in San Antonio, Texas.

In May, Psychology students Essence Thomas, Nohelia Garcia, Isabella Bernard, and Abigail York were awarded student travel funds to attend and present their research at Southwestern Social Science Association (SSSA) Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Admissions Counselor/Recruiter
Duties: Coordinate and conduct field visitation for student recruitment, including Arkansas and surrounding states; participate in marketing strategies and reporting data entry of prospects, follow up, meet with prospective students and families; advise and give presentations to high school students; provide information to school officials concerning educational opportunities offered to SAU; weekly evening work and extensive travel which may include weekends and other duties assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required; strong interpersonal and organizational skills; excellent communication skills; must be comfortable speaking to large groups; extensive computer skills; ability to work as part of a team; recruiting experience preferred. All SAU faculty and staff demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and diversity of the University community and excellence in interpersonal behaviors and effective collaboration with collegues. Thee Research Methods students will present the results of their studies tomorrow in Reynolds Center from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. The format will be a poster presentation. Feel free to drop by and view their work, ask questions, and fellowship. These students have worked so very hard and I'm proud of each one!
