College of the Ouachitas-Medical Office Administration Our mission is to prepare graduates for entry-level positions as health information technicians in a variety of health care and non-health care settings.

The Association of Applied Science degree in Medical Office Administration is a 60- or 61-credit hour program offering specialized clinical and administrative skills required to coordinate office functions in a healthcare setting. The program prepares graduates to sit for the Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Professional Biller (CPB), and the Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT). T

his student also offers Technical Certificates in Medical Office Administration, Medical Coding, and Medical Transcription, and Certificates of Proficiency in Medical Terminology and Medical Office Administration. Graduates are prepared for positions of medical office manager, medical billing and coding associates, medical office administrators, and medical transcriptionist. Students will learn to:
• Understand the human body
• Use medical terminology, communication skills, and computer applications in preparation of medical documents
• Maintain medical records
• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, & HCPCS codes to medical records
• Bill for medical diagnose and procedures
• Transcribe medical dictation
