Communication Arts Program - UNH Manchester Students majoring in Communication Arts (CA) explore the creativity and artistry of communication.

We offer a BA degree with degree options in Advertising & PR, Cinema & Media Arts, Digital Media, and Human Relations. Our course content ranges from working with cutting-edge digital media technology to discovering the complexities of human communication and media cultures. While majors may select coursework from across the program¹s curriculum we have three suggested areas of study:

Would you like an internship at a local marketing company for the summer or fall?

Savior Faire is a small marketing company in Manchester, celebrating their 15th year in business. They do traditional and digital marketing for a variety of companies, mostly local and regional.

The internship would involve various activities related to marketing. The intern would be expected to do some audio and video production. The company is venturing into the world of podcasts, so hopefully someone who has experience in that realm. The intern would also do some video production work, as well as other marketing tasks including website development. There would definitely be writing involved. The intern should be a self-starter with good communication skills, as well as a fast learner who is not afraid to ask questions. The intern would need to have their own laptop. This is a credit-bearing opportunity with the possibility of a stipend.

Title: Communications Manager
Reports To: Chief of Staff
Status: Full Time, Exempt
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Position Description: The Communications Manager is responsible for managing all external
communications coming from the Office of the Mayor.
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
● Creates and implements overall communication strategy for the Office of the Mayor
● Manages all communications relating to the Office of the Mayor, including
○ Maintaining Mayor’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
○ Managing all press and media relations on behalf of the Mayor, including responding to
inquiries, communicating with reporters both on and off the record, and drafting and
sending press releases
○ Drafting remarks and other written communications on behalf of the Mayor
● Works with City departments to develops and implement communications strategies pertaining
to other City initiatives as needed
● Maintains and manages the Mayor’s public schedule, including responding to requests for the
Mayor’s time, writing event briefings and talking points
● As needed, serve as mayoral office receptionist by coordinating the arrival of appointments and
answering phone calls
● The Communication Manager’s work is performed under typical office conditions. This position
is required to occasionally work outside of business hours, including evening meetings. In
addition, the Communications Manager may be required to work on weekends and may be
contacted at any time to respond to important situations and emergencies
● Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
● Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including an ability to effectively
present information and engage diverse audiences
● At least two years of progressively responsible experience in marketing and communications,
public relations or a related field.
● Knowledge of, or ability to learn, city government structure and the working relationships
between various parties.
● Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, working with diverse populations and
establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships. Must exercise sound judgment and
maintain confidentiality.
● The candidate should also have strong organizational, analytical, and project management
abilities and be comfortable working on a team.
● Working knowledge of and ability to use computer programs and software applicable to the
duties of the position
● Graphic design experience is strongly preferred
