From being a first-generation college graduate to becoming a bilingual Physician Assistant serving women and families in San Antonio, Sabina embodies compassion, dedication, and leadership. Congratulations on this exciting new chapter at Westover Hills Women’s Health. We know you will make a meaningful impact on the lives of your patients.

Meet Sabina Godinez

Sabina Godinez, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant at Westover Hills Women’s Health in San Antonio, Texas. She is passionate about helping women feel informed, empowered, and supported throughout every stage of life.

Sabina earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Kansas State University in 2025 after completing her Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition. As a bilingual provider fluent in both English and Spanish, she is committed to making healthcare accessible and ensuring patients feel comfortable, heard, and understood during their visits.

Originally from Mexico, Sabina is a proud first-generation college graduate and the first person in her family to pursue higher education. Her journey into medicine has fueled her passion for serving diverse communities and inspiring future generations of Latino/a healthcare professionals.

As she begins her career in women’s health, Sabina is excited to learn from the experienced providers at Westover Hills Women’s Health while building meaningful relationships with her patients. She believes every patient deserves to be listened to, validated, and empowered with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their health.

Outside of the clinic, Sabina enjoys dancing, reading, photography, and staying active at the gym. She also loves exploring San Antonio and its surrounding communities and is quickly becoming a devoted Spurs fan.

Sabina considers it a privilege to be part of her patients’ healthcare journeys and looks forward to providing thoughtful, compassionate care to the women and families she serves.

🌟 This week we're featuring Skylar Gorrell, a member of the K-State PA Class of 2028! We're excited to spotlight Skylar and share more about her journey to becoming a future Physician Assistant.

About Me: Hi everyone! My name is Skylar Gorrell, and I'm originally from Las Vegas, Nevada. Before starting PA school, I worked as a Medical Assistant in an orthopedic clinic for 5 years, where I developed a passion for patient care. During my gap years between undergrad and PA school, I stayed active by completing four half marathons and exploring some incredible national parks with my family. A few of my favorites were Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks.

Education: I graduated from Baker University in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. While at Baker, I had the opportunity to play collegiate softball for five years. One of the highlights of my college experience was studying abroad in London for two months and traveling throughout Ireland and Scotland on the side.

After PA school: I'm keeping an open mind about future specialties, but I have a strong interest in Emergency Medicine and Orthopedics

Fun Fact: During my senior year at Baker, our softball team made it all the way to the Women's College World Series!

🌟 Faculty Spotlight: Michael Trausch, PA-C 🌟

The Kansas State University Physician Assistant Program is proud to feature Principal Faculty member Michael Trausch, PA-C. Students, staff, and faculty alike are excited to have him as part of our program and are grateful for the knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm he brings to the classroom each day.

Michael grew up in the Overland Park and Gardner, Kansas area and first learned about the Physician Assistant profession after enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1986 at age 21. Following an honorable discharge, he completed his prerequisites at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, married the love of his life in January 1991 (35 years strong!), and began PA school at Wichita State University in August 1991.

After graduation, Michael practiced Family Medicine for nine years in Paola, Mound City, and St. Marys, Kansas. In 2004, he transitioned to Emergency Medicine and began working as a civilian employee at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Fort Riley, where he served for 23 years and precepted U.S. Army PA students every year.

After retiring from federal service in December 2025, Michael skipped the vacation and jumped right into his next adventure. In January 2026, he joined the Kansas State University Physician Assistant Program as Principal Faculty, where he now teaches Physical Diagnosis full-time.

When he's not teaching, Michael enjoys watching comedians Nate Bargatze and John Pinette, reading U.S. history—especially biographies highlighting personal triumph and World War II heroism—watching action and adventure movies, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Fun Facts About Michael:
• He has traveled to Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Scotland, England, Turkey, and Mexico, though he admits he isn't fluent in any foreign language.
• He has completed the Kansas Camino four times, most recently in June 2026.

Thank you, Michael, for your dedication to the PA profession, your service to our country, and your commitment to educating the next generation of physician assistants. We are fortunate to have you as part of the Wildcat family! 💜

Cink Week was a success!

We learned how to find optic nerves with the ophthalmoscope, patch eyes, place eye drops, and studied nearly 40 eye pathologies. Safe to say we're seeing things a little more clearly now! 😎

A huge thank you to Dr. Cink for spending the week with us and sharing his ophthalmology expertise, patience, and passion for teaching. We appreciate all the time he invested in helping us build our skills and confidence!

🌟 Student Spotlight: Parker El-Attrache 🌟

We're excited to introduce Parker El-Attrache, a member of the Kansas State University Physician Assistant Class of 2028! We're proud to highlight the talented students who make our program so special.

About me: Hey yall! My name is Parker El-Attrache. I moved around growing up from Georgia, around Texas, and eventually ended up in Olathe, KS! Walking my dog, Goose, is my favorite thing to do after class. I love to travel, golf, go to concerts, and be crafty when I can.

Education: I graduated from KSU in 2022 with a BS in psychology and life sciences, and a minor in leadership studies. I love that I’ve been able to continue my education here at kstate. EMAW!

Plans after becoming a PA: Before PA school, I worked as a medical assistant at Johnson County Orthopedics. I truly hope I find my way back to working there as a PA. I am also interested in urology, women’s health, and loved our endocrine unit so far!

Fun fact: I love to cook, experiment in the kitchen, and make something out of nothing. It would be amazing to travel and try authentic cuisine all over the world!

For anyone wondering what your favorite PA students have been up to between lectures, exams, and surviving on questionable amounts of sleep... here's a glimpse!

Over the past six months, we've managed to squeeze in a little fun between studying pathophysiology and memorizing what feels like every medication ever created. We've cheered on the Cats at a baseball game, volunteered during K-State's Day of Service, and even battled it out in a class pickleball tournament with Dr. Malreddy.

It's hard to believe we're officially six months in and halfway through the didactic phase of the program. The days are long, the coffee consumption is impressive, and the amount we've learned is even more impressive.

We're proud of all we've accomplished together so far and excited for what's ahead. Here's to the second half of didactic year—and hopefully a little more sleep somewhere along the way!

Christopher Edwards is a Kansas State University Physician Assistant student in the Class of 2028. Passionate about patient-centered care and professional growth, Christopher is building the skills to become a compassionate and dedicated future PA. Read more about him below!

About Me: My name is Chris Edwards, and I’m from Iowa Park, Texas. Before starting PA school, I served four years in the United States Air Force, where I had the opportunity to travel around the world and meet incredible people. After leaving the Air Force, I worked as a medical scribe in Cardiology and Dermatology. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.

Education: I graduated from Texas Tech University in 2024 with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Biology.  

Plans after becoming a PA: After PA school, I hope to watch the next Summer Olympics in person, since they will begin shortly after graduation and be hosted in the United States. I’m currently interested in Emergency Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery, although that may change once I begin clinical rotations.

Fun Fact: I’ve lived in more countries than states! I’ve lived in the United States, South Korea, England, and Cyprus, while living in only two states, Texas and Kansas.

A few of our K-State PA students attended the AAPA Conference over break in New Orleans! While there, they had the opportunity to attend clinical workshops, hear from leaders in healthcare, explore the latest medical innovations, participate in professional development sessions, and network with fellow PA students and providers from across the country.

We appreciate them for representing K-State so well and bringing back valuable knowledge and experiences to our program!
