Happy Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know even small w**ds can have a big impact on crop yields?

Early in the growing season, w**ds compete with crops for sunlight, water, and nutrients. Because young crops are especially vulnerable during this time, effective w**d management is critical to helping plants get off to a strong start and reach their full yield potential.

Have a great weekend, Cats!

Happy Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know approximately 5.5 million acres of Kansas farmland are irrigated?

Most of that irrigation takes place in western Kansas, where farmers rely on water from the Ogallala Aquifer to help grow crops in a region with limited rainfall. Efficient irrigation practices play a major role in conserving water while supporting crop production across the state.

Happy Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know sorghum uses about 30% less water than corn?

That efficiency makes sorghum one of the most drought-tolerant row crops grown in Kansas. Its ability to handle hot, dry conditions helps farmers produce grain even during challenging weather, making it an important crop across the Great Plains.
