The ASI GSA organization focuses on:

- Networking among each other and the agricultural community.

- Professional development of graduate students via guest speakers and campus workshops.

The Animal Science Graduate Student Association is hosting a clothing sale until April 2nd. There are many styles and options to choose from. All clothing items can be personalized with the "Flying K" logo or the KSU ASI wordmark logo. All orders will be available for pickup in 217 Weber Hall in early May. Items can be viewed, and orders placed online at https://www.companycasuals.com/KSUAnimalScienceGradStudentAssociation/start.jsp Payment is required at the time of order. K-State grad students win big at Midwest ASAS!

Congratulations to Olivia Harrison, Ron Navales, and Ethan Stas for placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, respectively, in the PhD oral competition!

⭐️ Congratulations to Katelyn Gaffield, the recipient of the 2024 Stanley/Peo Outstanding Graduate Student in Swine Nutrition Award for Midwest Section. Dr. Gaffield completed her Ph.D. at Kansas State University. She has 11 peer-reviewed articles, 11 peer-reviewed abstracts, 5 extension publications, and 2 popular press articles that are published or in preparation and has secured funding for research projects totaling $217,793. For her Ph.D., she researched how in-feed acids impact pigs and in nursery and commercial finishing facilities and developed an available phosphorus release curve for a novel phytase source. ⭐️

⭐️ Congratulations to Olivia Harrison, the recipient of the 2024 Young Scholar Award for Midwest Section. Olivia is a Ph.D. candidate at Kansas State University. She is one of the leading scholars in feed safety and biosecurity, with 10 refereed journal articles and 17 scientific abstracts. Her research transcends from the fundamental, such as the development of laboratory methods for viral RNA extraction from contaminated fomites, to the applied, such as the role of boot baths for improving on-farm biosecurity. ⭐️
