Internship tip: Don’t wait until the end of your experience to ask for feedback.

Checking in with your supervisor during your internship can help you understand what you’re doing well, where you can keep growing and how you can make an even stronger impact before your last day.

Try asking questions like:

“What is one thing I’m doing well?”

“Is there anything I could improve on?”

“Are there any skills I should continue building?”

“How can I be more helpful to the team?”

Asking for feedback shows initiative, professionalism and a willingness to learn. These qualities can help you stand out in the workplace. It can also give you helpful language to use later when updating your resume, preparing for interviews or reflecting on your career goals.

Wherever you are in your internship experience, remember: growth happens when you stay curious, open and ready to learn.

Need help talking through your internship experience or preparing for what comes next? The Career Center is here to support you!

That summer job you almost left off your resume? It might belong there.

Part-time jobs, internships, volunteer roles, or campus positions can all show employers how you communicate, solve problems, lead, adapt, and follow through; the key is knowing how to describe them effectively.

Take a few minutes to reflect on what you're learning this summer and then bring those notes to the Career Center. Let's turn them into strong resume bullets or interview examples to make your future applications even stronger!

"I reached out to the Career Center at the beginning of my job search and was met by an incredibly enthusiastic and dedicated team. They helped me strengthen my application materials, gain confidence through mock interviews, and even provided a professional outfit and quiet interview space. Their guidance and encouragement played a critical role in my success, and I truly would not have landed the job I wanted without the Career Center's support!"
