Lambda Pi Eta,Upsilon Rho Chapter is a Communication Studies honor society at Kansas State University Lambda Pi Eta was founded in 1985.

Lambda Pi Eta is the Communication Studies honor society of the National Communication Association. The national undergraduate communication studies honor society. Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) represents what Aristotle described in his book, Rhetoric, as the three ingredients of persuasion: Logos (Lambda) meaning logic, Pathos (Pi) relating to emotion, and Ethos (Eta) defined as character credibility and e

thics. Since the conception of Lambda Pi Eta, Upsilon Rho chapter in 2006 we have successfully added many members. This Communication Studies Honors Society recognizes students who have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 and a Communication Studies GPA of at least a 3.25. Dating back to 1863, Kansas State University has a rich history in Communication Studies. In fact, the first organizations at K-State were literary societies, which focused on public speaking training, socials, weekly meetings, and debates. Unfortunately, these societies died out as years passed, and now, we have taken the unique opportunity as students to invest in a Communication Studies once again. Its goals are:
(1) to recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies;
(2) to stimulate interest in the field of communication;
(3) to promote and encourage professional development among communication majors;
(4) to provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication;
(5) to establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students; and (6) to explore options for graduate education in communication studies. Our current goals for this organization include, but are not limited to: bringing in speakers, research opportunities, resume critiquing workshops, personal development, social activities, and the chance to meet other people with a similar interest to you. Other activities that Lambda Pi Eta has become involved with over the past couple of years are the Communication Studies Fair and the all university open house every spring.

Lambda Pi Eta is currently taking applications for our Spring 2019 selection process. LPH is a great way to build a better resume, find job/internship opportunities, and get scholarships in the department. It also gives you an extra edge in interviews for graduate school and with future employers.

An outline of qualifications is in our application, and if you are interested please return the application to Nichols 234 or submit it electronically to Communication Studies Office Specialist, Melissa Winkel ([email protected]) by Monday, May 6th.

Hey Comm Students! Lambda Pi Eta applications are officially out! Applications can be found in the Communication Studies office with Melissa and each professor should have the document. This is an amazing way to get to know other students in the major as well as grow your communication studies network! We are so proud of our Lambda Pi Eta members who participated in the National Speech Tournament and helped K-State place 10th overall! Special shout out to member Logan Stacer, who made it to the final round of competition in three different events and finished as the seventh overall speaker in the nation. Congratulations!

Our members did great the other night at Locked Manhattan! They were so close to making out of the escape room. This was such a great activity that challenged us to problem solve and critically think while having fun as a team!
