Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for coordinating and delivering services related to batterer intervention programming (BIP) to individuals primarily in Johnson, Wyandotte, Sedgwick and Reno counties. Work will include conducting BIP assessments, providing coverage for BIP groups, and coordinating with other relevant KDOC staff to support participants in reducing their risk of future battering behavior.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Coordinate and deliver services related to batterer intervention programming (BIP) primarily in Johnson, Wyandotte, Sedgwick and Reno Counties. Provide Kansas Domestic Violence Offender Assessment (KDVOA) to individuals under KDOC supervision as necessary to support program needs. Refer participants to mental health care, substance abuse treatment, housing programs, and other supportive services as appropriate.
Provide facilitator coverage for BIP groups and otherwise support the delivery of a full array of BIP services.
Schedule, monitor, and support all administrative aspects of BIP services in Johnson, Wyandotte, Sedgwick and Reno Counties, including reviewing referrals, screening and assessing potential participants for readiness, establishing groups, tracking participants, documenting contacts in Athena, reporting to Office of Victim Services/Parole/Reentry staff on progress and ensuring available resources are fully utilized. Track data as directed for determining impact of BIP programming. Attend training and meetings as required.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
One year of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency’s programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
This position requires a college degree and the candidate to possess a professional license (LPC, LAC, LMFT, LBSW, LMSW, etc.) from the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Borad (BSRB) or the ability to become licensed within 6mos of employment. Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree with emphasis in criminal justice, social sciences, or behavioral sciences.
Experience in public speaking and training of adults.
Two years of experience working in the domestic violence field, either with victims or perpetrators.
Experience working with offenders or other high-risk groups.
Experience in case management.
Creativity, flexibility, and a desire to grow/learn.
Possesses:

Strong interpersonal communication skills
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to engage a difficult population
Has the ability to:
Demonstrate professional alignment with evidence-based practices in the essential elements and standards for BIP as established by the Kansas Attorney General
Demonstrate professional alignment with evidence-based practices including cognitive-based skills-building programs, classes and interventions
Utilize strong facilitation skills, including ability to be purposeful, engaging and respectful with offenders, and flow with group dynamics during skills-building classes
Have solid professional boundaries
Work effectively/collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
Work independently in a professional manner
Boundary span between areas of operation
