Another event that Hmong American Student Association held this spring was a co-host with Mankato State University. This event was called the odyssey, the odyssey was a reenactment of what our people went through during the secret war. The purpose of this event was to help build relationships with another hmong association from other universities and to educate the members of an important part of our hmong history.

This Spring the Hmong American Student Association held a lock-in for its members. The purpose of this Event was to help all the members get to know one another better and to build teamwork/relationships through activities.

Hmong American Student Association received nominations for multiple Club awards at the Student Involvement and Leadership Awards today. Members Kiaying Vang and Kimberly Lee received nominations for Outstanding Student Leaders, and Club Adviser Xao Vang was nominated for Outstanding Club Adviser. Hmong American Student Association was nominated for Educational Event/Program award and the University Theme Award. Hmong American Student Association won the Outstanding Club Award!! Congratulations to everyone and thank you to those who nominated the club and these awesome people.

In the fall semester, we had an engaging activity during our general meeting titled: Paj Huam/poetry. In this activity we educated our members the different types of poetry the Hmong have, including paj lug, kwv txhiaj and paj huam. The members were then given time to work on their own freestyle paj huam which is much similar to rap. It was quite fun for the members!

Kimberly: As the President of Hmong American Student Association for 3 terms, Kimberly has a passion to create a welcoming environment for HASA members.
-"Her efforts and commitment to HASA has made the club so successful! She has proven to be a great leader and mentor. Not only does she reach out to Hmong students on campus, but she continues to be an advocate for her peers. Seeing Kim's advocacy work makes me optimistic about our future!"

Kiaying: As the fall semester Vice President of Hmong American Student Association, she has a passion of bringing to light the social justice issues that are present in today's society and connecting it the the Hmong community.
-"Kiaying did a great job as Vice President. I enjoyed her time as VP. I loved how seriously she took HASA. Not just that, but she strongly put herself or voice out there for herself and the club. She is humble, kind, and humorous. I like how she treats everyone like family and makes sure everyone is okay. She does not leave anyone nor call them out. Most of all, I love her reassurance and open-mined personality"

Mikayla: A devoted club member with exceptional leadership. -"Mikayla is a Resident Assistant for Sheehan Hall. She is always helping her residents and guiding them to the right direction with her leadership skills. Not only does she use this skill being an RA, she is highly active on campus as a member of the Hmong American Student Association and the Asian American Club etc. to advocate for the voices unheard."
