MSU's Garden EngAGEment program, a community garden project established by the College of Allied Health and Nursing that creates opportunities for interactions between students and community members with dementia, is highlighted in a newly published research article in Health Communication. The article illustrates how Garden EngAGEment provides an innovative model for attracting and training future health professionals in aging care and breaks down stereotypes around dementia.
The article was written collaboratively by faculty from the Department of Communication and Media (Anne Kerber, Ivana Guarrasi, Sachi Sekimoto), the Department of Speech, Hearing, and Rehabilitation Services (H. Sheen Chiou, Kristi Oeding) and the School of Nursing (Sabrina Ehmke). It can be accessed here: https://www.tandfonline.com/eprint/QPWPWH56QZU8ZETNQKYX/full?target=10.1080/10410236.2024.2433288
