HELLO SPRING! 💐🐇

After much anticipation, Mansfield SAR is happy to welcome the first week of spring 2023! 🐥Students all over campus are enjoying the nicer weather after spring break. It is important to acknowledge our freedom to experience such a delightful time of year.

However, not everyone has the luxury to relish in this beautiful season of new beginnings. Niloufar Bayani has been imprisoned in the Iranian Evin prison since 2018 on charges of espionage, without substantial evidence. Her passion lies in studying biodiversity conservation and one of the most endangered large cat species in the world— the Asian Cheetah. She was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison for simply researching this beautiful species in Iran.

An innocent wildlife conservationist and activist does not belong in prison, she belongs doing what she does best— researching the environment and animal species! Bayani, alike many wrongfully imprisoned scholars, deserves academic freedom. 🌏

Happy international women’s day! Today is all about celebrating the hard work, achievements, and courage of women all across the world, and standing up for abuse, oppression and injustices against women. Niloufar Bayani is being held in Evin Prison in Iran on a 10 year sentence for a crime she did not commit, while being threatened with sexual assault and torture. All Bayani is guilty of is being a passionate activist and wildlife environmentalist. Today is for women like Bayani.✊

Happy World Wildlife Day!🌏🐾 It is a great day to bring awareness to Nilfoufar Bayani, a wildlife conservation researcher who was studying a critically endangered species, the Asiatic cheetah, in Iran when she was falsely charged with espionage and sentenced to 10 years in Ervin Prison. She still remains there today. Bayani is a passionate activist and devoted conservationist, her freedom matters.
