Our Friday the 15th Shout Out goes to MUEDSPE Alum Marie Domenech and her husband MU Alum Edgard “Gardy” Domenech. Marie has two degrees from MU: a B.S. Business Administration (‘01) and an MS.Ed. Education (’11). In her job as an Assistant Director of Admissions, Marie has been covering territory in New York and Western PA for MU this semester. So, in September, for example, you might have run into her in Rochester, and in October perhaps in East Syracuse or maybe Chataqua, and just last week you would have discovered her in Binghamton or Brockport. Her schedule, like many of the other Admissions staff, keeps her on the go. Across 7 days (non-sequential) in September, Marie hosted 7 recruiting events and 6 transfer events—in 12 different cities. And with October and November schedules looking very similar, it is clear that Marie, as the farmers in Tioga County say, “cuts a wide swath!” Marie’s husband Gardy is an MU graduate as well, and this year marks his 21st year working on the MU campus.
The main picture in today’s feature is from 2011, when the Susquehanna River flooded her banks, affecting many of our friends and neighbors. The picture says just a little about the kind of people we have in Gardy and Marie. They are standing (with other Admissions staff) with supplies for flood victims they gathered during a collection drive they led in Mansfield. Gardy and son Dylan are on the left and Marie is in the middle with daughter Sophie in front. The picture (in a separate posting) is of Marie and Gardy. Now that you see what Marie looks like, you can say hello if you see her in Victor, or Bolivar, or Dryden, or Erie, or Batavia, or Canandaigua, or Irondequoit, or Henrietta, or Webster, or ……………?
