The Mansfield campus community remembers and honors Mansfield Borough Police Chief Zach Stager ‘09 who passed away on June 22, 2026. Zach earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration from Mansfield and graduated from the Mansfield Municipal Police Academy in 2009.

A member of the Borough Police since 2010 before being named Chief of Police in 2023, Chief Stager was an integral part of the Mansfield community and a strong partner to the Mansfield campus and University Police Department.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fellow officers during this incredibly difficult time. In his memory, flags across all Commonwealth University campuses at Mansfield, Bloomsburg, and Lock Haven have been lowered to half-staff.

Thank you for your service, Chief. You are deeply missed.

More than 3,000 Commonwealth University students earned academic honors during the Spring 2026 semester, demonstrating the hard work, dedication, and determination that define our university community.
