The uncommon app

The uncommon app I work with students to create compelling personal essays and college applications to highlight strengths & talents.

Together, we navigate the common app and I provide expert advice on how to write essays, present their information and stay on schedule.

We are at full capacity for the class of 2027! Please reach out if you would like to be placed on our waitlist for July, August or September. I will most likely be able to accommodate students over the summer on an hourly basis.

Congratulations to one of my hardest working students on his decision to attend UMass! Our working relationship is one of my favorite success stories - for both of us. It started when his family bid on a college essay package I donated to the MHS Junior auction. After we finished the essay I got a call - the application process was stressful at home and could I please come back to help? This led to many more one-on-one meetings to write essays, organize apps, detail sports and extracurriculars and finish the common app. We ended up completely rewriting his essay in October because I got to know him so well that the first draft seemed outdated. The acceptances started rolling in but so did deferrals - so we met again to write the deferral essays and LOCIs. What started as a 2-3 hour commitment led to a shared journey over many months where each success or set back was met with new strategy and fortitude, a true team effort.

Best of luck to Miles at UMass - go minutemen!!!

Congratulations to my latest committed student who will be spending the next 4 years as a Buff!! Drew had a big decision to make among the schools who admitted him but ultimately a good business program combined with big school spirit and a beautiful mountain backdrop guided his decision. SKO BUFFS!!

Kate Stone shares some advice on the value of extracurriculars in college admissions. I will add that the earlier you start and longer you stay with any activity - allowing your interests, passions and leadership opportunities to grow - are key.

Kate has lots of great advice and is worth a follow! Kate Stone College Coaching

Congratulations to this student athlete who committed to playing D3 football for the Salve Regina Seahawks!! He wasn’t sure if he wanted to play ball or focus on business school so I helped him with his essays and applications to D1 schools. He had many acceptances but his ❤️ is with 🏈. Congratulations on your acceptances, your future is bright!

Helping my students get accepted into their dream schools was a breeze. I guided them to be authentic, tell their stories and showcase their strengths.

Compiling this graphic of all the college logos of schools that have offered acceptances to my students so far was much harder. And it’s alphabetized! So far 5 happy students have committed, to U Penn, Tufts, Chapman, NYU and William & Mary. More to follow 🎉🎉🎉

Congrats to my class of ‘26ers on all these acceptances - and waiting for even more! Together, we can do difficult work and accomplish great things.
