Summer may seem to bring a quieter pace to campus, but things never really slow down at Chipola. Our team is hard at work preparing for an exciting 2026-27 school year and keeping campus operations running smoothly.

One department that is always at work behind the scenes is our Facilities Department. From maintaining our buildings and grounds to ensuring our campus is safe, clean, and welcoming, their responsibilities stretch across nearly every corner of the Chipola campus—truly, "everything the light touches."

We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and hard work of this talented team. Following the retirement of longtime Director of Facilities Dennis Kosciw in December 2025, the department continues to uphold the high standards of excellence he helped establish during his years of service to Chipola.

As we prepare for another great year, we thought it would be fun to revisit one of our favorite Chipola videos. Created by the Marketing & Media team in 2024 as part of a series highlighting departments across campus, this Facilities feature quickly became a fan favorite—and for good reason!

Take a moment to watch, smile, and help us thank the Facilities team for all they do for our students, employees, and campus community.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

CHIPOLA COLLEGE AWARDED $35,000 GRANT FROM THE EDWARD K. ROBERTS COMMUNITY COLLEGE FUND OF THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SARASOTA COUNTY TO FUND SCHOLARSHIPS

The Chipola College Foundation has been awarded a $35,000 grant from the Edward K. Roberts Community College Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to provide need-based scholarships for students pursuing postsecondary degrees and workforce credentials during the 2026-2027 school year.

The funding will help remove financial barriers for students seeking associate, bachelor's, and industry-recognized certificate programs, including workforce training programs such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), plumbing, and other technical fields.

"We are grateful to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and the Edward K. Roberts Community College Fund for investing in our students and helping make higher education and workforce training more accessible," said Chipola College Foundation Executive Director Julie Fuqua. "These scholarships will provide meaningful support to students who are working to improve their lives and create brighter futures for themselves and their families."

Scholarship preference will be given to:
• Students who are parents of minor children, whether married or single.
• Part-time students who may not qualify for other forms of financial aid.

Funds may be used for tuition, fees, books, and other educational expenses, as well as essential living expenses such as housing, childcare, and transportation. Individual students may receive up to $3,000 during the grant period, based on demonstrated need.
Students enrolled in Pell-eligible programs are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Scholarships are available for both degree-seeking students and those pursuing workforce and technical certifications.

The scholarship program supports Chipola College's mission of providing access to quality learning opportunities and helping students achieve their educational and career goals.

Applications and additional scholarship information are available through the Chipola College Foundation. For more information, visit www.chipola.edu/foundation or call (850) 718-2404.

CHIPOLA COLLEGE EARNS NATIONAL DESIGNATION FOR EXCELLENCE IN CYBERSECURITY EDUCATION

MARIANNA, FL — Chipola College has been designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) through the 2030 academic year by the National Security Agency (NSA), in partnership with the Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Academic Engagement Office and the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) program.

This prestigious designation recognizes Chipola College's commitment to advancing cybersecurity education and developing a highly skilled workforce prepared to meet the growing demands of national security and the digital economy. Institutions receiving this honor have demonstrated rigorous academic standards, strong curriculum development, and a commitment to producing graduates equipped to address evolving cyber threats.

“This designation is a significant milestone for Chipola College,” said Dr. Sarah Clemmons, President. “It reflects the quality of our faculty, the strength of our academic programs, and our commitment to preparing students for critical roles in cybersecurity and information technology.”

The NCAE-C program, managed by the NSA, recognizes institutions that meet rigorous standards in cybersecurity education and actively contribute to reducing vulnerabilities in the nation’s information infrastructure. Chipola’s designation places it among an elite group of colleges and universities nationwide.

Students enrolled in Chipola’s cybersecurity programs benefit from hands-on training, industry-relevant curriculum, and opportunities to engage with real-world applications of cybersecurity principles. The designation is expected to enhance student recruitment, expand partnership opportunities, and strengthen pathways into high-demand cybersecurity careers.

CHIPOLA THEATRE ANNOUNCES THE 2026-2027 SEASON!

The Chipola College Theatre Department celebrates America 250 with its 2026-2027 season with an exciting line-up for all ages.

Described as “the greatest American play ever written,” Our Town (October 2-4, 2026) presents the small town of Grover’s Corners in three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage” and “Death and Eternity.” The play depicts the simple daily lives of the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love, marry, and eventually – in one of the most famous scenes in American theatre – die.

Celebrate the America heartland in the Oscar and Tony-nominated Footloose: The Musical (February 18-21, 2027). When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.

A pop culture phenomenon comes to the musical stage in Schoolhouse Rock Live! (May 21-22, 2027) The Emmy Award-winning 1970s Saturday morning cartoon series that taught history, grammar, math and more through clever, tuneful songs Schoolhouse Rock Live! follows Tom, a nerve-wracked school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV, when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music, through such songs as "Just a Bill," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly" and "Conjunction Junction."
