We are so proud of our future teacher leaders! Thank you also to Belpre City Schools for their willingness to give our teacher leaders a real world opportunity to hone their skills and make an impact on their community.

Our LEAD 210 teacher leaders led a standing-room town hall on Wednesday for Ohio's Fair School Funding formula — and the community showed up!

Our students brought together a powerhouse panel: Former Rep. John Patterson (co-sponsor of the Fair School Funding legislation), Ali Smith (Policy Matters Ohio)
Dan Greenberg (VP, Ohio Education Association),
Jeffrey Greenley (Superintendent, Belpre City Schools), &
Lance Erlwein (Treasurer, Belpre City Schools).

More than 50 people joined in person and online for a clear, honest conversation about how Ohio funds its schools, and Katelyn Jackson from Parents United closed the night with a call to action.

We are so proud! These developing teacher leaders are not waiting to step up -- they are doing it now, in Belpre and beyond.

🎉 Marietta College’s Education Department has been recognized with the 2025 Frank Murray Leadership Recognition for Continuous Improvement from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

This national honor is awarded to programs that meet every accreditation standard at the highest level, with no stipulations or areas for improvement. It reflects our faculty’s dedication to equity, excellence, and preparing future educators to step into classrooms ready to make a difference.

We are especially grateful to the accreditation team of Sarah Jacobs, Tanya Judd, Dottie Erb, and Andrew Smith, whose collaborative efforts, along with the entire department, made this achievement possible.

Teacher Leadership is an impactful collaboration between the McDonough Center for Leadership & Business at Marietta College and Marietta College Education Department. Marietta College is one of the few places in the country where preservice teachers can study what it means to be a teacher leader as an undergraduate!

Congratulations to our own Dr. Tanya Judd on her selection as an Ohio Teacher Leader Liaison! During the next two years, Dr. Judd will gain knowledge and skills related to trust-building, communications, feedback and use of data as well as a greatly-enhanced understanding of state government roles and processes related to education. Dr. Judd and her program colleagues will also work collaboratively with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce and engage in two-way communications and feedback about current and future education topics in our state and nation. What a great achievement!
