After returning to Kennesaw State University following a brief break to join the United States Marine Corps, mathematics alum and recent 40 Owls Under 40 honoree Zach Navejas (’14) discovered his love for numbers and coding through undergraduate coursework. That passion led to an internship after graduation and a career in data analysis. Alongside working full time, Navejas continues to advance in the Marine Corps Reserve while serving on Kennesaw State University Alumni Association's advisory board, giving back to the institution that helped shape his path to success.

Math Stinger no. 173:
A castle is surrounded by a pentagonal wall with a tower at each of its vertex. There is a guard defending each of the five towers every night. Normally, each guard moves to the next tower in clockwise direction every hour. However, one evening, they are tired and confused. They still move every hour, but in random directions, to one of the adjacent towers. After some time, all five guards are gathered in the same tower. What is the minimum number of hours for this to happen? Explain your answer.
