If you've been through the One Stop Center and met someone with a smile that never leaves her face, you've probably met Crystal Scruggs!
Crystal joined our team as our Financial Aid Counselor in September 2025, bringing 15 years of experience with her. Ever since, she's been on mission to help students remove barriers and pursue opportunities they may not have thought were possible. Crystal spends her days in a variety of ways: assisting students and families with FAFSA questions, reviewing eligibility for grants and scholarships, processing aid, assisting with childcare grants, and monitoring Federal Work-Study students. But far beyond that, she takes every opportunity to make the college more accessible and less overwhelming for every student we serve.
"Financial concerns are one of the biggest obstacles many students face when pursuing higher education," Crystal shares. "I help students understand the resources available to them and guide them through the financial aid process so they can focus on their education instead of worrying about how to pay for it. Seeing students realize that college is within reach is incredibly rewarding."
Here's something many people don't know: financial aid is about so much more than the FAFSA. Crystal and her team are here to answer questions, provide guidance, connect students with resources, and support them throughout their entire educational journey. If you're thinking about college but worried about the cost, Crystal is in your corner!
Outside of work, Crystal loves traveling, (especially to Jamaica;)). She also spends quality time with her family and her Rottweiler, Shadow. (And yes, she has a bearded dragon named Mushu with a personality to match!)
