2022 Luther Lee Lecture

20 years ago, Dr. Michael Emerson and fellow sociologist Christian Smith wrote a book called Divided by Faith: Evangelical Religion and the Problem of Race in America. Having recently completed follow up research to their initial study, Dr. Emerson will be sharing about their findings on how matters have developed over the past two decades.

It was such a pleasure for the JWHC to host Dr. Noah Toly on campus last week for the President’s Author Series and to award (finally) the 2020 Aldersgate Prize to this engaging and gracious scholar for his book, _The Gardeners’ Dirty Hands: Environmental Politics and Christian Ethics_ (Oxford University Press)

It was also terrific to gather once again in person for a PAS Dinner!

We were so proud to see JWHC students play pivotal roles in IWU’s opening-year Academic Convocation. Gracia Gormong (Music Education/Honors Humanities) delivered an inspiring reflection on the formative potential of collegiate learning; Landin Brown (Visual Communication Design/Honors Humanities), who serves as SGA President, led students in the tradition of inaugurating the new academic year with the ringing of the bell.
