Dear African Student,
Accept our sincere apologies for sending to you, a late welcome message from African Students Association (ASA). You would acknowledge that we have met and helped in different capacities but that do not substitute for a welcome message and party. So rather than explain the reasons for this, we want to accept all the blame and responsibilities. However, it is better late than never. That is why we say to the new students, welcome to Southwest Minnesota State University and to returning students, you are welcome back. The academic community of Southwest Minnesota State University is a diverse one with a growing size of Africans. It is therefore with joy, that we introduce to you – the new students – African Students Association, a platform with which we come together to share our joy and pain while learning. It is a platform we have also used to contribute to this receptive academic community.
As we gradually progress with studies, we need to remind ourselves that spring semester is ASA major activity semester – the semester for election, African Night and participation in International food festival. To achieve all this, you are encouraged to participate and contribute as member. A more detailed election message will come to you shortly. At the moment, we encourage undergraduate students to aspire for leadership positions in African Student Association to ensure sustainability of this association. We also encourage everyone particularly the new students to actively engage and contribute to International Students Organization (ISO) activities particularly the forthcoming International food festival. More details on these activities, will be coming to you in due course through email and Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ASA.SMSU?fref=ts.
