Upward bound takes on Fast Track with the help of our student volunteers!

The Danville Regional Airport will host a Free Fly Day and open house this Saturday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Averett University flight instructors will offer free airplane rides for children ages 8 to 17 on a first-come, first-served basis—no registration required.

Guests can also tour the airport facilities, including the operations tower, and learn about Danville Public Schools’ new Aviation Science program.

Light refreshments will be provided.

In case of bad weather, the event’s rain date is Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Are you a rising sophomore, junior, or senior at Martinsville High School who wants to make a difference in your community? The City of Martinsville VA's Youth Advisory Committee is your opportunity to make lasting change!

Committee members work closely with city officials to explore and address issues affecting young people in the community. They will engage in meaningful discussions, provide input on local policies, and actively contribute to initiatives that impact their peers.

Parents - Get Ready for Virginia College Application Week at Magna Vista High School! 🎓💙🤍

Next week, October 20–24, Magna Vista High School will celebrate Virginia College Application Week, a time for students to take their next big step toward the future!

Throughout the week, students can join application workshops in Ms. Hunt’s office or stay after school from 3:30–4:30 p.m. for extra support. Each college application submitted earns students an entry into a raffle prize drawing, so don’t miss out! 🎟️

Here’s a look at what’s ahead:
📅 Monday–Friday: In-school application workshops with Ms. Hunt
📅 Monday & Thursday: After-school application workshops (3:30–4:30 p.m.)
💼 Thursday, October 23: Workforce Ready Day — Resume workshops to help students prepare for future careers
🎓 Friday, October 24: Community College Day! A field trip to Patrick & Henry Community College for an up-close look at local college opportunities
