Join the 4-H Livestock, Horse and Pet (LEP) is hosting a livestock showmanship clinic at the fairgrounds (700 E Ash St, Mason, MI) on June 9th. The workshop starts at 5:30 and will include sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits, goats, dairy market and beef. A light meal will be served compliments of Ingham County Farm Bureau.

Please save the date for the Fall 2026 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Certification Workshop- this workshop will be held September 26th and 27th 2026 at Huron Pointe Sportsmen's Association in Lenox, MI (35800 28 Mile Rd, Lenox, MI 48048). We hope to offer all 7 disciplines at this workshop (archery, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, hunting and wildlife, pistol, and coordinator). As a reminder, these workshops are open to GOLD volunteers approved by their county to attend and 4-H youth ages 14+ (4-H age, of course!). If you have folks interested who are not yet volunteers, please let me know so we can make a plan for them to complete the VSP in time to attend.

Registration will be opening in the coming weeks. Cost for the full workshop is $150.

The Michigan State Fair 4-H & Youth Virtual Showcase returns in 2026-providing youth across the state with an exciting opportunity to showcase their skills, creativity and hard work!

Who Can Participate/Eligibility
Michigan youth ages 5–19
4-H membership is NOT required
Entries can be from other local or county fairs; entries cannot be duplicated with the face-to-face Michigan State Fair.

Participants can:
Enter multiple classes
Submit photos and/or videos of their work
Receive constructive feedback from evaluators
Classes Include:
Livestock and animal showmanship
Still exhibits
Educational and project-based entries
And many more!
Cost to Participate

There is no cost to enter, and youth may participate in as many classes as they wish.

You can enter the same project in other local or county fairs.

Scholarship Opportunities
In addition to recognition and feedback, participants may apply for up to $1,000 in post-secondary education scholarships, thanks to the Michigan State Fair Foundation and supported by the Bowman Family. Scholarship Deadline: August 10, 2026

Looking for a fun summer activity for young horse enthusiasts? Join us for a one day Youth Horse Camp on June 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM–3:00 PM!
Campers (ages 5–7) will enjoy:
