Garrett College recently welcomed more than 300 students, instructors, and wildfire professionals for the annual Mid-Atlantic Wildfire Training Academy. 🔥

Representatives from seven states, along with federal agencies including the U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, gathered on campus for a week of advanced wildfire suppression and incident management training.

For nearly a decade, Garrett College has been proud to host this important regional academy, helping equip firefighters with the skills and knowledge needed to protect communities and natural resources across the Mid-Atlantic region.

The Mountain Maryland Music Institute returns July 6–10 with week-long camps in choral music, instrumental band, and piano for students ages 8–17.

Participants will build their musical skills, enjoy time at the CARC pool, and showcase their talents in a culminating public performance.

Congratulations to the Leadership Garrett County Class of 2026! 🎓👏

Over the past five months, this dedicated group of emerging leaders explored regional issues, strengthened their leadership skills, and built connections across our community.

As their capstone project, the cohort tackled a challenge many organizations face: connecting willing volunteers with meaningful opportunities to serve. Through research and community engagement, they developed tools and strategies to help increase awareness of volunteer opportunities throughout Garrett County.

We are proud to celebrate the graduates of our 10th Leadership Garrett County class and look forward to seeing the positive impact they continue to make in our community.
