Investing in students. Strengthening healthcare in our region. 🩻

Five Garrett College Radiologic Technology students have each received scholarships from the Garrett Regional Medical Center Foundation, providing two years of educational support as they prepare for careers in medical imaging.

Congratulations to Sophia Dewitt, Kylie Keplinger, Sophia Kolobow, Trevor Schrock, and Abigail Weimer! 👏

Following graduation, each recipient will have a pathway to put their skills to work locally through a two-year employment commitment with Garrett Regional Medical Center or Potomac Valley Hospital.

We’re grateful for this partnership and investment in Garrett College students and the future of our region’s healthcare workforce! 💙

🎓 Student Spotlight: Caleb Lehman

Meet Caleb Lehman, a Pre-Nursing student from Grantsville, Maryland.

As a Garrett County resident, Caleb chose Garrett College for the opportunity to attend tuition-free for his first four semesters while staying close to home.

This semester, Caleb has worked hard to find the study habits that work best for him—and that hard work is paying off with all A’s! He credits resources like the library, tutoring center, and CARC with helping him stay on track.

Outside the classroom, Caleb enjoys everything from carpentry and blacksmithing to hiking, camping, and spending time with family. He’s also found a sense of community and new friendships through The Crossing.

“Focus on what your professor says and ask questions when you don’t understand.”

After Garrett, Caleb plans to transfer to Allegany College of Maryland to continue his education.

Garrett College connections are making an impact with the West Virginia Black Bears. Sport Management graduate and former Laker wrestler EJ Guy serves as the team’s field and facility manager, while Sophia Putnam, a former guest lecturer in GC’s Sport Management program, serves as client relations and marketing coordinator.

Both are putting their education and internship experiences to work behind the scenes—from maintaining the ballpark to creating memorable experiences for fans.

“It doesn’t matter whether you come from a small community college like Garrett College or a huge institution like WVU. It’s about the effort you’re putting into it.” — Sophia Putnam

We love seeing Garrett College connections succeeding in the sports industry! ⚓

🎓 Student Spotlight: Livy Grieco

Meet Livy Grieco, a Math and Science major from New York and a member of the Garrett Lakers women’s soccer team. ⚽

Garrett College wasn’t originally part of Livy’s plan. After deciding that her first college choice wasn’t financially feasible, an opportunity to play soccer brought her to Garrett.

“Everything happens for a reason. I trusted my gut, and now I’m here.”

Since then, Livy has found a supportive community, maintained a 4.0, made great friends through soccer—and even learned how to fly a plane! ✈️

“It’s a small area, but trust me, you will find lovely things to do.”

After Garrett, Livy hopes to transfer to a four-year school to pursue pre-med, with big dreams of becoming a doctor and helping others. 🩺
