Bethel University Art Department

Bethel University Art Department Our goal at the Bethel University Art Department is to guide young artists towards personal lifelong self-exploration through visual media.

Based on the most recent archeological evidence, historians have concluded that human beings began creating art at least 75,000 years ago. Art, therefore, is a uniquely human endeavor, deeply ingrained in all facets of human existence. Bethel University’s Art Department encourages students to participate in—and contribute to—this enduring history of personal expression through visual media. The go

al of the curriculum is to develop the student's abilities to create, understand, and appreciate art. This involves producing works of art as well as gaining knowledge of the theories and historical contexts of art. Our program is designed to help students develop the appropriate technical skills, problem-solving skills, work ethic, visual language, conceptual maturity, and professional know-how to confidently enter the art world when they leave Bethel Univeristy.

Currently, in the Kathy Sacks Art Gallery, we are showcasing an exhibition of art done by students as assignments in studio courses during the first half of the Fall 2024 semester. This is not just the work of art majors or minors. ALL students taking a studio course were asked if they would like to participate. The work will be up until November 6, so it will still be on display during Homecoming. Please come by and check out what our students have been up to!
