Congratulations to Staff Editor, Fatelia Avery, on being named the Bessie Young Scholar for 2020-2021!โš–๏ธ๐ŸŽ‰ In 1915, before women could vote or sit on juries, Bessie Young became the first female graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law. In an effort to honor her legacy, the UM School of Law has partnered with a group of alumnae to create the Bessie Young Council (โ€œBYCโ€). The BYC provides financial support and mentorship opportunities to assist nontraditional law students who bring diversity and varied perspectives to the UM Law School community. For more information about the BYC and this great achievement, please visit https://law.olemiss.edu/alumni/bessieyoungcouncil/ . Congratulations, Fatelia!
