Lindsey Mantoan (Theatre) co-edited a book that has been released this week! The Methuen Drama Book of Trans Plays, vol 3: Young Adult Edition features 9 never-before-published plays by trans playwrights featuring trans protagonists. This volume focuses on young characters whose ages range from twelve to late twenties. Following the critical and commercial success of the first two volumes, this edited collection supports the expanding landscape of contemporary American trans theatre, which represents a variety of performance modes and genres. These plays address themes such as coming of age, parents and family (found and biological), athletics, dating, and navigating hostile political and social terrains. This third volume also includes introductory essays that accompany each of the plays to support a deeper understanding of the work.

We request the honor of your presence at “The Dining Room.” Beginning Directing students will showcase their newly–learned skills and direct Acting 1 students in A. R. Gurney’s “The Dining Room.” Student directors include Alyssa Catalani, Jemma Casem, Hannah Jones, Tony Pascalar, Cristina Purkey, Cameron Ramirez, Dominic Thompson and DeAndre Williams. Each scene is directed by a different student director with students from the Acting 1 class. This hilarious and touching comedy is set in the dining room of a well–to–do household, where the family assembles for any and all special occasions. This mosaic of interrelated scenes — some funny, some touching, some rueful — create a portrait of a vanishing species: the upper–middle–class WASP. Each scene blends into the next creating “a whole pattern of American life” and the slow demise of the dining room where families once came together for better or for worse. Sponsored by the Linfield Theatre Program and presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection. Tickets at link in bio.
