We are on to our final assignments for all of our studio-art courses for the spring 2020 semester. Intro. Drawing will be playing with and modifying "Old Master" drawing. They were to select a drawing, then manipulate that twice (two more versions of..) via their cell phone-photo editing functions, filters and or PhotoShop-like apps (many are free-Layout, PhotoShop Express, AutoDesk Sketchbook...to name a few). This drawing is by Raphael Sanzio (1483-1520), was selected by Santi Laureano and modified. Raphael was considered one of "The Big Three" equal to Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. However, he died at 37 years old, as opposed to living a long life life like both Michelangelo and da Vinci. He still accomplished an amazing amount of work, in his shorter life span. One wonders, if he would have eclipsed both, had he lived as long as they did.(Michelangelo lived to be 88. Da Vinci 67). He was the true embodiment of a "Renaissance Human Being"!!! On another note, Raphael Fenton-Spaid, one of our studio-art faculty members and an integral team member at PSUBART, was named after the master. Look for us on- psubart on Instagram. Our students are absolutely engaged and amazing!!!! We are strong!!! We are Penn State Strong!!!! Stay tuned......
