This week, Rhodes opened its doors this week to host an NCTA: National Consortium for Teaching About Asia workshop bringing together 24 local educators, administrators, and 4 Rhodes faculty members for a day of learning and collaboration.

Over 170 hours of community engagement — and counting.Because investing in educators means investing in students across Memphis and beyond.

Next stop: Canton, Mississippi.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and to all who spent countless hours making this event possible.

The Turley Memphis Center recognized some exceptional students, organizations, community partners, and professors at the Rhodes ❤️ Memphis Lawn Party on April 15th — and we are so proud of each and every honoree. This week we’ll highlight each recipient.

Our Emerging Community Engagement Leaders Award went to none other than the Healing Harmony Club.

Healing Harmony is a Rhodes student organization dedicated to wellness, self-love, balance, and mental health — and their impact stretches far beyond campus. From goat yoga and glow-in-the-dark meditation to combating imposter syndrome, they show up for the Rhodes community in the most meaningful ways. And in Memphis? They're serving at the Memphis Food Bank and hosting events for patients at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.

Congratulations to Healing Harmony. Pictured is president of Healing Harmony, Drishti Bhatia.

You all are exactly what community engagement looks like.

Environmental justice knows no borders and neither does Rhodes.

Alivia Griwatch, Olivia Alejandre, and Jayden Baichu, alongside community partner Kimberley Davis, represented Rhodes at the Global Environmental Justice Conference 2026 at Colorado State University — a gathering of scholars, advocates, and practitioners united around the theme:

"Where Do We Grow From Here? Environmental Justice and the Politics of Hope in the Planetary Age."

Their participation is part of the broader DEDA project — Data Dissemination Against the Digital Delta: an initiative bridging environmental sustainability and digital innovation — bringing Rhodes and Memphis into a truly global conversation.

A heartfelt thank you to Academic Affairs, IHECJ, and iRaST for making this opportunity possible.

The Turley Memphis Center celebrated 100 Years of Rhodes in Memphis and we couldn't have done it without YOU!!

We marked the milestone three ways:

Our We ❤️ Memphis Lawn Party brought together students, faculty, partner organizations, and friends of the TMC for an afternoon full of energy, community, and celebration. Student volunteers packed books and school supplies for Vollentine Elementary students, turning pages into opportunity and another group headed to the Orange Mound Senior Center to serve congregate meals alongside MIFA Memphis.

And the biggest milestone of all? Rhodes officially surpassed 50,000 hours of community service!!

We are so proud of you, Lynx. 🐾 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up, gave back, and helped bring this vision to life. Here's to 100 more years of Rhodes in Memphis.

Rhodes College has designated April 15 as a Community Engagement Day of Celebration. We have achieved a great deal this year - earned Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement and surpassed our goal of 50,000 hours of service to Memphis. Today, students, faculty, staff, and board members will serve in meaningful ways in Memphis, and we will finish the day with a big RHODES LOVES MEMPHIS celebration on the lawn of McNeill Concert Hall. We will honor our friend and benefactor, Henry Turley, recognize our community partners, and celebrate those who have gone above and beyond this year. I am extremely proud of and grateful to my Turley Memphis Center team and the Rhodes community for loving this city as much as I do.

With gratitude,
Natalie Person
Dean for Community Engagement
Executive Director for the Turley Memphis Center for Community Engagement

I want to thank all of you who helped us surpass our goal of providing 50,000 hours of community service to the Memphis community this academic year as part of our 100th anniversary in the city. A special thanks goes to Natalie Person, Jessica Cowan 11', Marisol Palomo, Arthur Jenkins, and Gabriela....
