Rhodes Giving Day is upon us! Did you know you can designate your donation towards a specific department or use? If you designate your gift towards Library/Technology, your money helps us manage a physical collection of 255,548 materials and a digital collection of 433,909 materials. It also helps provide upgrades to the WiFi and classroom technology as well as supports digital licensing for software or purchasing for computers! Regardless, please join us in celebrating this wonderful campus and all the people who make it a special place! Copy and paste the link above to give ♥️

The flyer pictured above was promotional material put out in 1922 to build excitement (and funds!) to relocate the college. As you probably know by now, Rhodes wasn’t always in Memphis. And moving a college is no easy feat, especially when the state supreme court gets involved!
In light of Rhodes’ recent 100-year anniversary in Memphis, join Kahlila and Kenan on the Lynx to the Past podcast as they reflect on the journey that led us out of Clarksville. 🛻

More winter weather memories from the archives! Alumni, do you recognize any of these slipping sliding students?

For extra bonus points, can you guess what year the cropped version of this photo appeared in the Lynx yearbook?
❄️ Hint: all of the yearbooks have been digitized and can be viewed at dlynx.rhodes.edu!

Throwback Thursday! Let’s go back in time to the 1930s, when a young Tennessee Williams was just Tom—a young man escaping a shoe factory job, discovering his voice, and falling in love with theater and life in Memphis.

Young Williams visited Southwestern in 1935 looking for purpose in his life. Here, he found friends, inspiration. and a new passion for playwriting. Flash forward 90 years later, and Tennessee Williams is here with us again in the form of paintings (generously gifted by Kenneth Holditch). It’s like he never left. In this new episode of Lynx to the Past, Kahlila talks everything Tennessee with special guests Rosie Meindl and Echo O’Connor. For more information on Williams, visit the website below (created by Echo O’Connor for the exhibition “Tennessee Williams: Paintings of Love and Loss”): https://sites.rhodes.edu/tennessee-williams

We had such an amazing time yesterday celebrating 20 years in our beloved Barret Library!

It was a joy to see each and every one of you: from the folks who planned and built it, the Information Services staff who have been honored to work here, and the faculty, staff, and students who have studied, researched, and treated the space like their home for the past two decades. ♥️

Thanks to our speakers: President Jennifer Collins, President William Troutt, Prof. Scott Newstok, Library Director Darlene Brooks and Associate Director Bill Short- thanks for sharing your memories and stories about the importance of Barret to our college community. Special thanks to all the folks that traveled from far away to come home for the celebration.

We didn’t take nearly enough photos because we were having such a good time visiting, so please tag us or message us to share yours with us! We’ll work at gathering photos to share soon. ✨
