Interested in machine learning research? 💻📚

The University of Memphis Machine Learning Reading Group (MLRG) brings graduate students together each week to read research papers deeply, think critically and grow as researchers.

Participants can:

• Deep-read and discuss research papers
• Take turns presenting
• Build strong research-reading habits
• Improve critique and discussion skills
• Explore new ideas in machine learning and related fields
• Connect with other grad students and researchers

The MLRG was created with grad students in mind, but eager undergrads and faculty are welcome too! The group plans to begin meeting in September.

Dr. Kwoba authored the award-winning book Hubert Harrison: Forbidden Genius of Black Radicalism. He spoke with Peter Cole about Harrison's legacy and its significance today.

Last night, Novel Memphis welcomed Memphis Historians' 𝗗𝗿. 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗢'𝗗𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗻 for a launch event celebrating the release of her new book, Moving Toward Freedom: The Political Education of Enslaved Americans.

She was joined in conversation by Charles McKinney, professor of History at Rhodes College, before answering audience questions. The event concluded with a book signing.

Students had the chance to explore opportunities across campus yesterday at the UofM Opportunity Expo. 💙🐯

From career resources and campus services to internships and involvement opportunities, the Expo gave students a chance to ask questions, make connections and learn more about what is available to them outside the classroom.

College of Arts and Sciences students were also able to learn more about opportunities like the Mellon Humanities Internship Program, along with other resources designed to support their academic and professional goals.

We're halfway through the first week of classes, but there's still plenty to discover in CAS!
