Dr. Audeliz Matías, geoscientist and Interim Dean of School for Graduate Studies at SUNY Empire State, explains the value of bringing the sciences and humanities together in community-based research to better understand and take action in the era of climate change and climate disasters, such as Hurricane María. Her research, which was conducted in Spanish and in English, uplifts the voices, knowledge, and insights of the people of Puerto Rico who experienced the 2017 Category 5 hurricane and its aftermath.
