A true relic of brotherhood. This 1909 demitasse cup and saucer set was crafted shortly after the New Orleans Convention, featuring the newly adopted Coat of Arms. This is one of the few known sets left, and a rare piece connecting us directly to our early traditions.

Every day, in every chapter, our brothers make history without knowing it! Here’s a great piece of history from Brother Giovanni Caracciolo (Eta Rho ‘21), who serves as a Real Estate Officer for Pi Kappa Alpha.

“In the Fall of 2022, I joined the Norse Leadership Society alongside three of my PIKE brothers, including Chapter Consultant Logan Hatfield. Through the organization, we attended a leadership retreat with student leaders from across the NKU community.”

“This photo was taken the day before we returned—just ahead of our chapter’s executive board elections. That same day, Logan and I were elected as External and Internal Vice Presidents, respectively.”

“The leadership skills we developed during the retreat proved invaluable in our new roles and continue to guide us today as we serve the International Fraternity.”

Want to make your chapter events part of Pike history? It’s easy—just email your favorite photos and descriptions to [email protected] and we’ll ensure they’re recorded in your chapter’s history notebook. Visit the link in our bio for more info!

What started as a rumor turned into one of the most legendary missions in PIKE history.

Zeta Omicron (CSUN) set out to reclaim the famed traveling bell from Gamma Pi (Oregon)—armed with fake names, forged stories, and sheer nerve.

After multiple failed attempts and close calls, two brothers finally found the 50-pound prize hidden deep in a trophy shop. With stealth and strategy, they walked out the back door and into the history books.

In 1929, while visiting the Alpha Chapter at the University of Virginia, Dr. Freeman H. Hart uncovered a sealed strongbox. Inside? A black-and-white photograph from 1871–1872—the earliest known image of Pi Kappa Alpha brothers. Dr. Hart got a copied scan of the photo where it has been in Memorial Headquarters since. For decades, the Original Alpha Composite—dated 1897 and believed to be the earliest surviving framed group photo from Pi Kappa Alpha’s Alpha Chapter—was missing. It had quietly passed through generations; hidden from the eyes of the brotherhood it once helped build.

Until now.

Thanks to the efforts of Tommy Walpole (Louisiana – Monroe, Eta Omicron ’74), Tony Baez (Nicholls State, Zeta Psi ’77), Adam Cossey (Louisiana – Monroe, Eta Omicron ’02), Matt Parker (Nicholls State, Zeta Psi ’76), Keith Daigle (Nicholls State, Zeta Psi ’96), and Shawn Lowe (Southeastern Louisiana, ’89)—alongside the generosity of the McCollam family, descendants of a former chapter member—this treasured artifact has been returned to its rightful home. Carefully preserved through time, the composite carries the legacy of the earliest brothers who stood at the foundation of Pi Kappa Alpha.

Since 1868... Built on Brotherhood. Bound by History.

📢 PIKE Alumni! We Want to Hear Your Story! 📢

Here's a sample of one of our first stories from Hunter Anger (Florida State, Delta Lambda '15):

"As a sophomore at Florida State, I wasn’t initially interested in Greek life. But through student government, I met PIKE brothers and decided to check them out. Once I visited the PIKE house, I knew it was the right fit. I ended up living there my senior year, experiencing unforgettable moments—backyard concerts, stickball matches, and even an undefeated intramural bowling run (though we got disqualified 😆). More than anything, PIKE gave me a sense of community, lifelong friendships, and an alumni network that continues to support me to this day. The brotherhood wasn’t about stereotypes—it was about bringing together diverse individuals to support one another. That’s what makes me smile most about my time as a PIKE."

Your story is part of our legacy, and we want to hear it! The Pi Kappa Alpha Historical Society is partnering with PCI (Publishing Concepts Inc.) to collect and preserve the incredible experiences of our alumni. Share your journey and be part of PIKE history!

With the anniuncement of our new expansion project at the University of Sydney, the Historical Society wanted to share a piece of history about our first attempt.

Col. B. B. Hungeer first attempted to found a chapter in 1929. After gaining no traction and being told the idea was "bird-brained" he later fought against local Austrailians in the Enu War of 1932. After his service he left military life to live off the land and nest in Western Australia.

While the Emu War is a real thing (and rather interesting to read about), we hope you all enjoy a fun April Fool's Day!

⚾️ One Plate Appearance, A Lifetime of Dedication ⚾️

On June 21, 1927, Tommy Sewell (Alabama, Gamma Alpha '24) stepped up to the plate for the Chicago Cubs in what would be his only Major League at-bat. Across the field, Taylor Douthit (California-Berkeley, Alpha Sigma '19) played center field for the St. Louis Cardinals. Two Pikes. One game. A shared legacy of perseverance and excellence.

As we celebrate Opening Day, Pi Kappa Alpha salutes all undergrad and alumni brothers who play baseball at every level. Your dedication, sacrifice, and pursuit of greatness define the values of our fraternity—on and off the field.

The Historical Society is excited to announce the launch of the Fraternity's largest preservation project of person stories in its history. The Oral History Project - which began today, March 17, 2024 - is a joint venture with PCI to collect the personal stories, memories, and experiences of PIKE alumni over the next 5 months. From there, the stories will be compiled into both a book and a digital vault with access offered to PIKE alumni who choose to purchase access. Every story captured will be preserved in the Archives at Memorial Headquarters.
Providing your story is easy. Simply call PCI at 1-800-451-4219 and update your contact information. After that, chat with one of PCI's trained interviewers and leave your legacy. No purchase or donation is necessary to provide a story, but we'd love your support.
Emails and mailed postcards will begin arriving today. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Director of the Historical Society at [email protected] or visit https://pikes.org/oralhistory/ for more information.
Our stories make us who we are. This is our Fraternity story as told by you! Join us today and share this post with a brother who's story you'd like to hear!

Brotherhood. Leadership. Legacy.

Since 1868, PIKE has been shaping men for life. Today, we celebrate where we’ve been—and secure where we’re going.

We’re working toward a $300,000 goal to fund the Dr. Jerome V. Reel, Jr. Curatorial Studies Fellowship, preserving PIKE’s history for future generations.

So far, we’ve raised $292,160.18 — let’s keep going! Every gift makes an impact.
