We've reached the last day of the campaign!! Thank you all so much for following throughout the week! With this last post, I wanted to highlight methods and strategies you can use with someone who may be going through nursing home isolation. Check out the resources, stress management videos, and more! Again, thank you! And I hope this week's campaign offered some insight into this issue during the pandemic and provided some knowledge on how to advocate further for this population :D :D

Day 4! Mental health plays a huge role in addressing nursing home isolation during this campaign. This may be overlooked in elderly residents, especially those with dementia or other cognitive, emotional, or even physical deficits. I wanted to take some time to share how mental health contributes to this topic, as well as provide resources you can use for someone you know that has gone/is going through this experience.

Day 3!
Today I wanted to address all the different ways someone can take action and advocate for people they know or loved ones who have experienced in the past, or are currently experiencing nursing home isolation. There are lots of programs in place, as well, that are underutilized by this population that they may not even know of! It is important to help advocate for those who are unable to for themselves. ☺️

Good morning! Today is the first day of the campaign. For today's posts on my issue of nursing home isolation during the pandemic, I am aiming to just provide some background and general information on the topic, as well as give an overview of what I will be covering in the upcoming week. Hello everyone, I'm MaKenna Kees! As many may know, I am in my last few semesters of occupational therapy graduate school. For my OT Community Advocacy and Leadership course here at CUW, we are to each create a 5-day social media campaign on an injustice affecting a population or group of people in our area, community, and/or around the globe. For this campaign, I am aiming to inform, advocate for, and bring awareness to the issue of nursing home isolation and/or deprivation during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is an issue for so many elderly individuals, so I hope that throughout the campaign, I can offer some great information and change the course of this issue for the better, even if it is a small contribution. Follow throughout the week and feel free to engage, ask questions, and hopefully, learn a little something new!!! Thank you!
