Happy DEM Tuesday✨
Today we’re introducing our wonderful Treasurer chair Katherine Rodriguez!
Katherine is a third-year Human Biology student from Manteca also minoring in Public Health with aspirations to pursue Medical School, and an interest in anesthesiology! Katherine’s interest in anesthesiology stems from her fascination, “by the science behind safely putting both the body and mind to sleep, then bringing a patient back to conciousness.” She also wants people to feel safe and comfortable during vulnurable moments especially if they have some anxiety about surgery. “Outside of DEM, I enjoy a lot of outdoor and physical activities. Recently I went hiking with of a few of my brothers in Yosemite and it was so much fun and breathtaking. I really enjoy kayaking and hiking. Other than that, I’m really into digital media especially music and watching movies.” She’s Currently the treasurer of DEM and said it’s been so interesting to see the financial side of managing an organization!
🤔Why DEM ? :
“I choose DEM to find connections with people with similar goals and this is the place for that. Meeting the wonderful siblings and members of DEM during recruitment made me want to come out more and I’m so happy I choose to join.”
💡Favorite DEM Experience?:
“I would say our Fall retreat. We went to Fresno State to their ropes course and it was so much fun to do. It was also the first big active thing I was able to participate in and it’s really where I connected the most with all my siblings.”
🫀How has DEM helped you?:
“DEM has definitely helped me become a better person both socially and professionally. Before, I would say I was a really shy and reserved person but DEM has definitely helped get me out my shell and putting myself out there. Professionally, DEM has giving me more opportunities to work on my skills on presenting myself and bulling my resume. We go to the Davis Pre-Health conference yearly and it is a great opportunity to talk to med schools and very fun doing all the workshops.”
