UC Merced Extension offers workforce-responsive, non-degree credentials and credential pathways that provide opportunities to upskill and re-skill. We can develop and deliver skills-based, alternative credential programs that align with employer needs and high demand jobs. We are honored to be named recipients of the 2026 UPCEA Engagement Award for our partnership with Merced County Department of Public Health and the Central California Alliance for Health for our collaborative Community Health Worker Specialized Training Certificate program.

This award, presented by UPCEA, the University Professional and Continuing Education Association, recognizes the impact of this partnership in providing a valuable program for our local communities.

At the May 12 Board of Supervisors meeting, the Merced County Department of Public Health and UC Merced PACE program received a 2026 Engagement Award from the University Professional and Continuing Education Association for their jointly developed Community Health Worker program. The program trains health workers who will go on to serve communities right here in our region.

This partnership is helping build a stronger, healthier future for Merced County by investing in local healthcare professionals and expanding access to care where it’s needed most.
