“The ARC-PA has granted Accreditation-Provisional status to the Mississippi State University Physician Assistant Program sponsored by Mississippi State University. Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students. The program’s accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website at http://www.arc-pa.org/accreditation-history-mississippi-state-university-meridian. The first cohort matriculated in January of 2021.

Meridian High School students got a few hands-on lessons from MSU-Meridian Master of Physician Assistant Studies students last week as part of the program's community outreach. PA program faculty have extended an invitation to all interested high schoolers to learn more about the role of a physician assistant. The high schoolers spend a half day touring the campus, labs, classrooms, Interprofessional Simulation Center and more. Here are some special moments from today's Master of Physician Assistant Studies White Coat ceremony, a rite of passage signifying the readiness of MSU-Meridian's Class of 2027 PA students to leave the didactic phase of their education to enter their clinical phase of study.

This is a time-honored tradition marking the readiness of these students to learn with real patients in the clinical setting. Congratulations, students!

MSU-Meridian Master of Physician Assistant Studies and Master of Science in Nursing students, along with MSU social work students, recently participated in a sepsis simulation at Meridian's Interprofessional Simulation Center. The center was designed to accurately mimic real patient and exams rooms to educate and train students enrolled in healthcare programs.
The simulation involves the use of mannequins that are controlled by faculty in observation rooms and standardized patients, who are actors trained for such simulations. Students then meet to discuss the simulation and outcomes.

This is yet another way MSU is Taking Care of What Matters!

MSU-Meridian Master of Physician Assistant Studies faculty brought anatomy to life for a group of Southeast Lauderdale high schoolers recently. The students took a class in Anatomage, a 3D platform used to explore human anatomy in detail using digitized cadavers. They also spent time with current PA students and explored programs offered by the School of Health Professions and School of Nursing.

Leadership. Advocacy. Professionalism in Action.

This semester, our Master of Physician Assistant Studies students from Mississippi State University had the incredible opportunity to participate in White Coat Day at the Capitol — a powerful experience that highlights the role of future healthcare leaders in shaping policy and advancing patient care.

Standing proudly in their white coats, our students engaged with legislators, represented the PA profession, and witnessed firsthand how healthcare policy impacts the communities they will one day serve. Experiences like this go beyond the classroom, reinforcing the responsibility, professionalism, and advocacy that define exceptional Physician Assistants.

And of course, our PA Graduate Ambassadors—better known as the “Dawg Pack”—were there to capture this special moment.

We are proud to see our students stepping confidently into spaces where healthcare decisions are made — learning, leading, and representing the future of medicine.

The future of healthcare is in great hands.
