From relative rest and safe movement to screen time, sleep, and communication with key stakeholders, the article translates current concussion guidance into clear, usable steps.

Congratulations to Dr. Brian Hortz, adjunct faculty member in the ATSU Department of Athletic Training, on his appointment to the Board of Certification (BOC) Board of Directors!

Dr. Hortz will spend the coming year in mentorship and preparation before beginning his service as an Athletic Trainer Director in 2028. With more than 30 years of experience spanning clinical practice, education, research, regulation, and professional leadership, he brings a wealth of perspective to this important role.

We’re proud to have leaders like Dr. Hortz sharing their expertise with our students while helping shape the future of the athletic training profession at the national level.

🎉 Spotlight on Success! 🎉

Congratulations to DAT alumni Drs. Kimberly Detwiler and Rebecca Novak on receiving funding through an NATA Research Grant as co-investigators on a multi-site randomized controlled trial!

Led by Dr. Julie Cavallario (University of Utah) with co-investigator Dr. Cailee Welch Bacon, this innovative study will examine how different educational strategies prepare athletic training students to negotiate salary and advocate for themselves as they enter professional practice. By focusing on real-world negotiation behaviors, the project has the potential to strengthen career readiness and improve long-term professional outcomes for future athletic trainers.
