The University of Miami School of Architecture and Momentous Sports launch M-SURF this fall, the first university-based research initiative dedicated to sports urbanism.
Housed within MRED+U, the fund examines how stadiums, arenas and university athletic venues anchor mixed-use districts and shape real estate value, urban design, public space and community outcomes.
Professor Mark Troen leads the research beginning this fall, guiding faculty and student work on national case studies, public programming and publications. The team will also develop a first-of-its-kind Sports Urbanism Performance Index.
Researchers plan to present initial findings at the 2027 University of Miami Real Estate Impact Conference.
MRED+U looks forward to advancing the research, dialogue and next generation of thinking at the intersection of sports, real estate and urbanism. 🙌
