Congratulations to Schreyer Scholar Matthew Sharp, who has been a mentor to a FIRST LEGO League team (the Krpton Kittens) for the past two years. He was selected from over 50 coaches and mentors as the FLL Challenge Coach/Mentor Award at the York Regional Qualifying Tournament. According to the FIRST organization, "this award goes to the coach or mentor whose leadership and guidance are clearly evident and best exemplify the FIRST Core Values and Gracious Professionalism."

One of our students, Yekaterina Mironchik, has successfully completed her Schreyer Honors College thesis and is set to graduate in Fall 2026. This achievement marks a significant milestone, celebrated by the ringing of the gong—a proud symbol of completing the program. Congratulations, Katiya, on this outstanding accomplishment!

It certainly has been a busy semester for our honors students. In October, students in the HONOR 301H course visited Washington, DC. Many plans were cancelled, due to the government shutdown, but they made a day of visiting various Smithsonian Museums, as well as a guided walking tour of the monuments.

Thursday evening was a perfect evening to paddle on the Swatara Creek. Students learned about the historic waterway and it's importance as part of the Union Canal. Some students were kayaking for the first time.

On Friday, May 9th, we celebrated our Honors Programs graduates. Our Medals & Stoles Ceremony recognizes the accomplishments of these students who went the extra mile to complete honors coursework and an undergraduate thesis. Special thanks to Christopher Arney '19 for providing a "real-life" keynote address.

Last week, our senior honors students presented their final theses. Eleven students presented research in fields ranging from Finance to Mechanical Engineering. The thesis is a year-long research project that only a select few can complete. Congratulations to all our presenters.

On Monday, December 2nd, Senior Mechanical Engineering student Caden Kurzenknabe presented his Schreyer Honors College Thesis entitled "Antimicrobial Silver Nanoparticles (AgNPs) Coating of Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) Spinal Cages." Caden celebrated with his family and thesis supervisor Dr. Ola Rashwan, and thesis reader Dr. Nik Tsotakos. Congratulations Caden!
