Hi all! Hope your spring is unfolding nicely! Dr. Ed Taylor's talk has been rescheduled for 3:30 - 5:00 on 4/13 in the Morrison Gallery (at the entrance to the Library) on the Penn State Harrisburg Campus. Here's a description from Ed about his talk:

Critical Reflection and Empathy?

The fostering of critical reflection is often purported as central to promoting learning, particularly higher order thinking skills, in higher education. Much of this based on the assumption that as a theoretical and practical construct critical reflection is seen as essential to developing a more inclusive worldview. Some would go as far to say that the most significant learning experiences in adulthood involve critical reflection—the questioning of deeply held assumptions that frame our perspective. Historically critical reflection has been critiqued as an overly rational and objective process, disregarding the significance that emotions play in reflection. In response to this concern and others, this presentation discusses the latter, but also explores the idea of foregrounding the role of emotions in critical reflection through the construct of empathy as a means to help motivate others to listen and critically self-reflect.

Should be an interesting session! I hope some of you can join us!

Hi All! Here's a post from alum Ashley Ingram that you might find of interest. Enjoy!

Hi Colleagues! Some of you may already know how to do it this way; but I came across this video today and it has blown my mind on how to make leader and participant guides more effectively. I don't know if I will use all the tips but I am 100% going to try the overall process on the current project I am working on. Here is the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ak7P6uEGcAg

This video gives you step-by-step instructions for creating a Leader Guide for your ILT workshop or webinar, using PowerPoint's Notes Master feature. Using t...

I'm looking forward to seeing many of you on campus, and hope over the course of the semester that I will, one way or another, cross paths with many of you who are alums.

I just read that the best time to post on FB is between 11:30 and 1:30. So let's see if I can reach a few more people to come and join us for the Meet and Greet happy hour this Thursday night!

Just a reminder that this Thursday is our informal opening semester Meet and Greet. I'll be there ready to have a glass and a great conversation with whoever can make it - current students, new students, alumni, friends..... Here are the details:
Thursday, January 7th, 5:30-8:00 at Angie's Bar and Grill
1360 Eisenhower Blvd, Harrisburg, PA 17111
It's a drop-in. Just stop in and say hi when you can! Whether the turnout is large or small, this is a good way to ease into the new semester and a great way to connect with friends, old and new, connected to our program and active in our field.
All are welcome! I If you have friends and colleagues who are curious about the program feel free to bring them along!
