The refreshed exterior proudly highlights Northwood’s role as America’s Free-Enterprise University and serves as a visible reminder of the ideas that have shaped our nation—and continue to light the way forward.

Creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurship have been on full display this week at Northwood University's Learn About Business (LAB) Camp!

Our high school students were challenged to create and pitch their own apparel brands, gaining hands-on experience in branding, marketing, design, and entrepreneurship along the way.

Throughout the week, campers:
👕 Designed and printed their own t-shirt concepts using apparel printing equipment at the Idea Center

🎤 Learned from local entrepreneur Josiah Blackmore of Red Threads Print House about starting, scaling, and evolving a business

⭐ Participated in a branding workshop led by Northwood student and former LAB Camp student Steven Hackbarth—a true full-circle moment

🚗 Visited Carhartt headquarters in Detroit to learn from the company's branding, marketing, and technical design teams. A special thank you to Northwood alumnus Nick Foote, whose leadership at Carhartt and support were instrumental in helping make this incredible experience possible for our students!

The week isn't over yet! Students will spend today refining their business pitches, connecting with participants from Northwood's Summer Accelerator Program, and wrapping up the experience with a Great Lakes Loons game.

We can't wait to see the innovative ideas they present!
