This year Food prices are expected to be high due to the shortage of Synthetic Fertilizers. Folks ask us how will that affect us this year. We simply answer... it won't! We have not relied on synthetic Fertilizer for at least 6 years. Our livestock do it for us. We strategically built our farm to have paddocks where we can have pastures in multiple locations. When preparing to plant to we turn our livestock into the pasture to mob graze and they provide the nutrients the soil needs. When preparing the paddock for growing vegetables we tarp it for a few weeks... sometimes with clear plastic to kill the seed bed followed by black tarp to kill off anything that germinated. If we plan to do a no-till section we only tarp the width of what it takes our 3032E to cover on a light till leaving the rows still in tact with pasture... enabling microbes to still thrive untouched. We love this approach as it allows for healthy microbes to pe*****te the garden beds right next to them for the growing season. This is what Responsible Farming looks like... Because being Responsible for your land, livestock and Community is all apart of the Soil Food Web and this leads to sustainability.

We have another amazing workshop this Weds at Comfort Farms with Marine Combat Veteran Panda Jones... Who will teach us how to install a proper livestock fence. Fencing is extremely expensive... So if you like to learn and do it on your own this block of instruction will be perfect for you.

After the session we will have lunch and then ride over to Lockerly Arboretum to talk History and See why Native Americans in Georgia chose to Settle in this Region.

We hear it in the news all of the time. Food Crisis are inevitable…Shortages in our supply line…The rise of inflation and many other economic indicators…The Cost of feed is rising…Chemicals that the large scale food industry relies on for growth are being depleted. Our decisions we made to pull away from the earth and stewardship are coming to haunt us.

We need more people willing to pick up the baton and run towards Regenerative Farming Practices. If your interested in being a beacon in your community and a steward of the land… Enroll in our upcoming class to be a Sustainable Farmer through Central Georgia Technical College.
