Would you like to take your French speaking skills to the next level? Would you like to make a new friend in France and learn about their culture and their experience as a college student in another country? Why not try Teletandem?

Teletandem is an opportunity, in partnership with the Université de Lille, for GCSU students taking French to engage in video chats with a student in Lille for mutual conversation practice in French and English.

There is no cost to participate. Just scan the QR code or go to https://forms.office.com/r/z2Uahu4X4G to fill out the interest form. In the coming weeks, you will be matched with a partner in Lille who best aligns with your interests and language level, and then the fun and cultural exchange begins!

We hope all of you are enjoying a restful Labor Day weekend! This week's Monday Musing comes from an old Chinese proverb. One of the many benefits of learning a new language is how much it broadens your perspective about the world. As you learn this semester, seize the opportunity whenever possible to ponder the new words, traditions, cultural norms and ways of life to which you are exposed. The world is wide, and there is so much beauty and newness to take in!

Welcome to another Foodie Friday, Bobcats! This week's feature is 'patatas bravas', a popular dish found on the tapas (small, shared plates) menu at restaurants throughout Spain. Patatas bravas consist of cubed, fried potatoes covered in a spicy red 'brava' sauce that is seasoned with paprika. Some variations also include a creamy garlic aioli sauce. And Middle Georgia is in luck: a new tapas restaurant recently opened in Macon, and patatas bravas is on their menu! If you are interested, check out Andalusia Macon and try patatas bravas for yourself!

Welcome back to more Monday Musings from the Language Resource Center. This week's quote pushes us to look at learning a language as more than just a mechanical tool to build sentences in another language. As you study your chosen language this semester, reflect on ways in which the practice pushes you to think about your own language and how it works, as well as how different cultures use language to express meaning in ways that may be new to you. There is so much to learn about the world through the study of other languages!

Happy Friday, Bobcats! This fall, the Language Resource Center (LRC) will be inspiring your taste buds with Foodie Friday. Each week will feature dishes from other countries and cultures in an effort to expand your culinary horizons. This week, we are featuring poutine, an iconic comfort food that originates from Québec, the French-speaking province of Canada. Poutine includes French fries topped with gravy and cheese curds, though other ingredients may be included in variations of the dish. Though originally from Québec, poutine became popular across Canada, and has more recently found its way onto menus in the United States and throughout the world. It is hearty, warm, and delicious!

Welcome to week two of Fall Semester 2026! Every Monday this fall, the Language Resource Center (LRC) will be sharing a quote related to language-learning to inspire you on your own journey. If you are worried about how you sound learning a different language, don't be. Step outside your comfort zone and try something new. And if you meet someone on campus whose accent sounds different than yours, take the time to chat with them; learn their story and what brought them to GCSU. You may be surprised how many connections you open yourself up to this way!
