Two Georgia College & State University graduates are earning national recognition for their research potential, with both honored through the highly competitive National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program. Out of 14,000 applicants nationwide, Amber Stubbs (’24, ‘26) was one of just 2,500 to receive the award, and Sydney Irons (’25) earned honorable mention recognition.

Stubbs graduated with her master’s degree in biology and will begin her Ph.D. at San Diego State University this fall, studying rattlesnake behavior. Irons, an environmental science graduate, will start her doctoral studies at the University of Texas at El Paso, focusing on the impact of artificial light on pollinator communities. Their achievements highlight the strength of undergraduate and graduate research opportunities at Georgia College, where hands-on experience, faculty mentorship and access to real-world scientific work continue to open doors for students pursuing advanced study and discovery.

Congratulations to Dr. Marc Feuerbach (’10), named Georgia’s 2026 Superintendent of the Year!

Serving 4,700 students, he has helped Cartersville City Schools reach new milestones, including the highest graduation rate in its 125-year history.

“Leading in the public sector requires balancing the viewpoints of multiple public values people hold near and dear to their heart. To do my job effectively, I must listen first, learn second and lead third.”

A proud example of what it means to lead with intention and impact.

On EMS Recognition Day, we’re celebrating alumnus Bradley Wilson (’25) — an advanced EMT, ER patient care technician and former Bobcat baseball pitcher who is passionate about breaking down language barriers in health care 🚑

As one of only a few Spanish-speaking providers in his emergency department, Bradley is committed to making sure Spanish-speaking patients feel comfortable, understood and confident seeking care. His goal is simple but powerful: no patient should feel afraid to get help because of a language barrier.

From answering 911 calls to supporting patients in the ER, Bradley brings skill, compassion and cultural awareness to every shift.

Join us in thanking Bradley and all EMS professionals for the life-saving work they do every day.
