🎓 Congratulations to our newest GCSU Music Therapy Bobcats, Kelsey, Megan, & Shani! 💙🎶💚

We are so proud of these students and all the hard work, dedication, and musicianship they’ve brought to our program. While Shani walked in December, we’re celebrating all three and the incredible accomplishments that brought them to this moment! 👏✨

And a special shoutout to Dr. Peebles, who stepped in to deliver a truly “golden” commencement speech about finding our joy. 🌟🎤

A big congratulations to music therapy seniors Cole Flowers and Kelsey Carpenter on their outstanding senior recitals! 🎷

Both Cole and Kelsey delivered impressive performances that reflect years of dedication, growth, and hard work—both as musicians and future music therapists. We’re proud of all they’ve accomplished and grateful for the passion and commitment they bring to our program.

Way to go, Cole and Kelsey! 👏

What a show! 🎶

Last Friday morning, more than 100 Baldwin County K–12 students joined 33 teachers and paraprofessionals, along with 14 music therapy students and 3 music therapy faculty members, for an incredible performance. It was a great reminder of what can happen when people come together through music.

This year marks 10 years of partnership with the Baldwin County School District’s Program for Exceptional Children. What started in 2016 with Dr. Katie Whipple and just five classrooms has grown steadily over the years. Under the direction of Erin Kelly, MMT, LPMT, MT-BC, the program continues to reach more students and create meaningful musical experiences for learners of all abilities. Mrs. Kelly's creativity, musicianship, and communication are just a few of the qualities that make her such an asset to our program and students!

A heart felt thank you to all the students, teachers, para-professionals, administrators, faculty, and parents that help make this event possible each year!

🎶✨ Intern Spotlight! ✨🎶

We’re so proud of Megan Atcheson, who is currently completing her music therapy internship at the Life Enrichment Center—a longtime community partner of our program for over 20 years.

Megan is doing incredible work building relationships, growing her clinical musicianship, and thoughtfully connecting with individuals through music each day. It’s always special to see our students thrive in a setting that has meant so much to our program for decades.

Way to go, Megan—we love seeing you shine! 🐾💚💙🎵

🎶💙 Interns on the move! 💙🎶
We’re cheering on our music therapy interns Shani Thompson, Kelsey Foster, and Megan Atcheson, who are off and running this semester!

From Hospice Savannah, to Fairfax County Schools in Virginia, to the Life Enrichment Center in Milledgeville, they’re already doing meaningful work and gaining hands-on experience in a variety of settings. We’re so proud of the impact they’re making and excited to see all they’ll accomplish this semester—here’s to a season of growth, learning, and music in action! 🎵✨

🎶🎸🎻 Music Therapy is happening at The Cottages of Milledgeville!
We’re so proud of our third-year music therapy student, Katie Slaten, as she leads music-making on guitar and violin, creating moments of connection and meaning with residents during her practicum. This is why we do what we do! 💙🐾💚

And 👀—do you spy Professor Susan Craig supervising Katie and cheering her on? 😉
