Our own Dr. Minter recognized with the UMPC Advanced Practice Award!

Nurses are at the heart of everything we do. This Nurses Week, we’re highlighting UPMC nurses whose expertise, empathy, and commitment help shape exceptional care every single day.

Meet Cayleigh Minter, a senior certified registered nurse practitioner at UPMC in Central Pa., and the winner of UPMC's Advance Practice Award.

When wound care gets complex, Cayleigh is the clinician teams trust. As an advanced practice provider (APP), she sets a high standard for advanced wound care across our region through exceptional clinical skill, collaboration, and forward‑thinking innovation.

Through her work, Cayleigh delivers meticulous, compassionate care tailored to each patient’s needs.
Beyond the bedside, Cayleigh is helping shape what’s next in health. She played a key role in building and expanding Virtual Rounds, a systemwide initiative that enhances interdisciplinary communication, streamlines case review, and broadens access to specialty expertise.

Through her clinical expertise and innovation, Cayleigh is improving patient outcomes today while helping define the future of wound care at UPMC.

🌟 Welcome, Dr. Michele Chronister! 🌟

We’re proud to announce Dr. Michele Chronister’s appointment to a faculty position in the Nursing Department at Millersville University!

Dr. Chronister brings a powerful blend of clinical expertise and academic dedication. A two-time Millersville graduate, she earned her MSN-FNP in 2014 and her DNP in 2020, building on her nursing foundation from the University of Pittsburgh.

With over 30 years in the field and five years as a beloved member of our faculty, Dr. Chronister continues to practice as a Nurse Practitioner while inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Outside the classroom, she’s a proud mom of five, a world traveler, a golf enthusiast, and is currently completing her teaching certification!

The Wehrheim School of Nursing are saddened by the tragic events at UPMC Memorial Hospital on Saturday and we extend our heartfelt condolences to all involved, especially the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Duarte.

In times like this, we are reminded of the need for comprehensive workplace safety policies. The Wehrheim faculty are committed to supporting nurses in advocacy at all levels. We are further committed to supporting our students, faculty, and alumni and are just a call or email away.
